Building community on dirt
In 2013, a group of us started shaping dirt in the heart of Copenhagen. What began as a few jumps and a shared love for riding turned into something much bigger — a community of 300+ members, summer camps for kids, weekly training, and a green space that thousands of people visit every year.
Why dirt?
There's something about building with your hands that screens can never replace. When you shape a jump, you learn about physics, about soil, about patience. When a kid lands their first drop, you see a confidence that no app can deliver.
Holmen Dirt isn't just a cycling track. It's a place where diversity lives, where creativity has room, and where people of all ages come together around something real.
The fight to stay
Green spaces in the middle of cities are always under pressure. We've spent years advocating, organizing, and showing up — proving that culture and recreation belong in the urban landscape. That fight continues.
If you're in Copenhagen, come ride with us. The course is free, the community is welcoming, and the dirt is always being shaped into something new.
